Coca-Cola T20 Schools Challenge 2013/14 – Results Day 1
Kingswood College’s Marco Lombard produced the most impressive performance on the first day of the Coca-Cola T20 Schools Challenge at Tukkies in Pretoria with his unbeaten century. He scored 110 runs from a mere 44 deliveries which included eight fours and ten sixes. This helped his side a mammoth target of 195 for Wynberg Boys’ High.
St. Stithian’s College produced the most impressive performance in the first round of the Coca-Cola T20 Schools Challenge at Tukkies in Pretoria. Saints defeated Westville Boys’ High of Durban by eight wickets with six overs to spare.
Westville set a competitive 137/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The team from Johannesburg’s two national u19-players, Ryan Rickelton (50*) and Marques Ackerman (44), was in a destructive mood. Rickelton faced only 34 deliveries in his innings and struck six fours. Wiaan Mulder (21, 8b) struck three consecutive sixes in the 13th over of Alexander Whitelaw’s bowling to steer his side to victory.
Waterkloof’s national u19-player, Janneman Malan (30), was also instrumental in his side’s five wicket victory over Kingswood College. The team from Grahamstown was bowled out for 105 runs thanks to some good bowling by Johan Terblanche (3/21) and Kabelo Raseleka (3/28).
Grey College of Bloemfontein got their first appearance at the national final of with a winning start against Wynberg Boys’ High. The team from the City of Roses’ Raynard van Tonder (47) was named man of the match for his effort with the bat in the six wicket victory.
They needed ten runs of the final over and reach the target 132 set by the side from Cape Town.
