It is North vs South in exciting match-ups during the Cape Peninsula Festival


CapePeninsulaWeekSome of the best cricketing schools in South Africa will face each other from Wednesday during the annual Cape Peninsula Festival in Cape Town. 

The festival is jointly hosted by Wynberg Boys’ High, SACS, Rondebosch Boys’ High and Diocesan College (Bishops). The festival will also have for the first time an international flavour with Hampshire Cricket College in attendance. 

The visitors will face the four southern suburb schools’ Colt-sides in limited-overs matches during the course of the festival. 

The four visiting teams from up-north Waterkloof, Jeppe High School for Boys, St David’s Marist and Pretoria Boys’ High all boasts with a proud cricketing history. 

Waterkloof will face Rondebosch Boys’ High on the opening day of the Cape Peninsula Festival which promises to be an exciting clash. The Klofies will have to play the match without Hardus Coetzer and Simeon de Bruyn who will be playing in the final round of matches on Wednesday for the Titans during the Cubs Week in Stellenbosch. 

Klofies still have more than capable players like Johan Harms, Richardt Ackermann and SW Kemp in their camp. Rondebosch is coached by former SA Schools’ and first-class player Rob Dalrymple

Jeppe High School for Boys will also be missing a couple of players in their opening match against SACS. Breidyn Schaper and Zakhele Sibanda are both part of the Lions’ squad which will play the Knights in the final of the Cubs Week in Stellenbosch. Schaper (109) has scored a century during the Cubs Week against the Dolphins. 

Jeppe’s coach Mike Bechet will also join the team after the Cubs Week where he is on duty as a national selector. SACS will also have a couple of players, Daniel “Stokkies” Smith and Kai Curren, who are representing the Cape Cobras at the Cubs Week who will miss this opening match.

The limited overs matches will all start daily at 09:00.
