Rain has the final say on the fourth day of CSA’s National u13 Week
None of the eight matches on the fourth day of Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) National u13 Week here managed to produce a result. All of the matches were affected rain and the matches that managed to get started did so only in the afternoon. An afternoon shower halted all the matches prematurely.
Two matches Boland vs. Northerns and Border vs. Zimbabwe was abandoned without a single delivery being bowled. Gauteng and Griqualand West remained the only two unbeaten sides at the tournament. Both of them will get a chance to travel home with this status intact.
Gauteng will play KwaZulu-Natal in their final match of the tournament at St. Andrews’ Vossies Field. Saints celebrated their 150th anniversary this year. Griqualand West will defend their status against Boland at Chevrolet Park.
The hosts Free State will play the formidable outfit of North West on the final day. They will want to get one back over the visitors after losing in a warm-up match against them before the tournament.
Two batsmen, Simon Holmes of KwaZulu-Natal (54) and Gerald Coetzee (51*) of Free State managed to record half-centuries yesterday. Holmes reached his half-century against Griqualand West. While Coetzee recorded his milestone against Northerns.
The best bowling performance belonged to Jonathan Kruger of Eastern Province who dismissed four of Easterns’ batsmen for a mere 18 runs with his spin bowling.
